Voi Returns to Copenhagen With 4.5k E-Bikes
Swedish micromobility operator Voi is returning to Copenhagen with a rollout of up to 4.5k shared e-bikes across the Danish capital. The launch marks Voi’s comeback after exiting the city in late 2023 due to strict parking regulations in the city centre. Voi previously operated e-scooters in Copenhagen and said the city was once one of its largest global markets, with millions of rides recorded between 2019 and 2021.
E-Scooter Trips Up 67% in Belgium
Belgium has recorded a “historic high” in shared e-scooter and e-bike usage, with trips rising 67% as soaring fuel prices and repeated public transport strikes push commuters toward alternative urban mobility options. Operators including Bolt and Dott reported record demand in Brussels, with strike days alone driving up to a 70% increase in rides, reinforcing the growing role of micromobility as a practical substitute for car and transit travel in European cities.
France's Bicycle Market Contracts, but Riders Carry On
France’s bicycle market fell again in 2025, with sales dropping to 1.836m bikes and total market value down 4.8% to €3.11B. E-bike sales declined 16% to 507k units, following the end of France’s national bike subsidy programme. Despite weaker bike sales, cycling activity continued to rise. Bicycle traffic increased 5%, while repair revenue jumped 10.5% to €128m as more riders chose to repair existing bikes instead of buying new ones. Gravel bike sales grew 18%, road bikes rose 7%, and French bicycle production increased 3.4% to over 512k units. The report also raised concerns over non-compliant fat-tire e-bikes and France’s underdeveloped employer bike leasing market compared to Germany and Belgium.

Lime Seeks Expansion of Spokane Scooter Program
Lime is seeking to expand its micromobility operations in Spokane, Washington, requesting permission to increase its fleet from 1.5k to 2.25k vehicles and extend operations through winter. The company also wants to introduce its new “Glider” vehicle, a hybrid between a scooter and bike. The proposal comes as Lime ridership in Spokane nearly doubled from 370k trips in 2022 to 674k in 2025. However, the company is also asking the city to reduce winter operating fees, arguing colder months generate lower revenue. While Lime says it has improved river cleanup response times and increased enforcement against improper parking, the company has yet to fully roll out promised AI sidewalk-riding detection technology in downtown Spokane.
Minnesota Senate Passes E-Bike Safety Bill
The Minnesota Senate has passed a new e-bike safety bill aimed at tightening regulations around e-bikes and higher-powered “e-moto” style vehicles. The legislation, introduced by Senator Ann Johnson Stewart, seeks to address growing safety concerns as electric micromobility devices become more common on roads and shared paths. The bill includes clearer definitions for e-bikes and motorized bicycles, mandatory labeling for speed and motor power, electrical safety standards, helmet requirements for riders under 18, expanded crash reporting rules, and restrictions on motorized bicycles using shared pedestrian and cycling paths. It also funds a statewide public awareness campaign on e-bike safety.
Dott Launches New Bristol E-Scooter Campaign
Dott has launched new discounts and promotional events to attract more e-scooter and e-bike riders across Bristol and the West of England, despite ongoing parking concerns. The campaign includes a new £2.99/month “WEST SummerPass,” free unlocks on Sundays, and a public try-out event for first-time riders. The move comes as Bristol remains one of Europe’s busiest e-scooter markets, with the trial recently expanded to areas including Yate and Thornbury. Authorities say new parking bays and stricter enforcement are improving compliance, with over 99% of rides now ending in designated parking areas.
A 2025 peer-reviewed study examines the relationship between shared micromobility and public transit, comparing how shared bikes and shared e-bikes interact with buses and metro systems in Ningbo, China. Using geospatial trip classification, the authors find that shared e-bikes are more likely to substitute public transit, especially for longer suburban trips, while shared bikes more often complement transit as first- and last-mile connectors. The study highlights that different micromobility modes play distinct roles in urban mobility systems.

A 2025 peer-reviewed study investigates e-scooter adoption and public perception in Qatar, using a nationwide survey of over 2.7k respondents. The authors find that e-scooters are mainly used for leisure and commuting, while adoption intentions are strongly influenced by infrastructure quality, regulation, social acceptance, and driving licence ownership. The findings highlight the challenges and opportunities of integrating micromobility into highly car-dependent urban environments.

A 2024 peer-reviewed systematic literature review examines how shared micromobility can be integrated into public transit systems. Reviewing 108 journal papers and grey literature, the authors identify four major integration approaches - physical, payment, informational, and institutional integration - and find that successful integration can improve first- and last-mile connectivity, reduce emissions, and support more resilient urban transport systems. The study also highlights that integration outcomes vary depending on city density and spatial-temporal conditions.

Calgary Launches Free E-Scooter and E-Bike Trips
Calgary, Alberta, Canada has launched free 10-minute e-scooter and e-bike trips at select LRT stations through a new partnership with Bird Canada and Neuron, which officially began on May 15. The programme expands on a 2023 pilot that found more than 70% of users said the service increased their use of Calgary Transit. Under new five-year permits, Bird and Neuron will provide shared micromobility vehicles at eight transit stations across the city, alongside dedicated parking areas aimed at reducing sidewalk clutter and improving accessibility. After the free 10 minutes, standard ride fees apply.
Juiced Bikes Launches Low-Cost Electric Dirt Bike
Juiced Bikes, a popular U.S.-based electric bicycle company, has unveiled the Nomadix, a lightweight electric dirt bike priced from $2,499 with speeds up to 70 mph, targeting the growing affordable e-moto market. Backed by Lectric eBikes, the off-road model combines high torque, long-travel suspension, and up to 50 miles of range, positioning it as a lower-cost rival to premium electric dirt bike brands like Sur-Ron and Segway.
