Trek Launches First Throttle-Equipped E-Bike
Trek has introduced its first throttle-equipped e-bike, the FX+ 1. The bike features a 500W motor (60 Nm torque) and a 540Wh battery offering up to 50 miles per charge. Two versions are available: a Class 2 model (throttle/pedal assist to 20 mph) and a Class 3 variant (pedal assist to 28 mph). The E-bike comes with 27.5-inch gravel tires, integrated lights (with 3-hour backup post-battery depletion), hydraulic disc brakes, and rack/fender mounts. The FX+ 1 is priced at $1,999.
London Sets Cycling Records
London has achieved a record 1.33m daily cycling trips, a 25% increase from pre-pandemic levels, accounting for one-third of all Tube journeys. In the Square Mile, cycling surged 70% since 2017, now representing 56% of commuter traffic and displacing cars as the top mode. This growth stems from improved safety, accessibility, and partnerships between Transport for London (TfL) and shared e-bike operators like Lime and Forest, whose trips quadrupled since 2020 (1 in 6 city journeys).
TfL invested £1m in e-bike parking, while operators committed £20m to infrastructure and operations.
France E-Scooter Sales Dip
In 2024, France saw 615k e-scooter sales, generating €254m, down 9% in volume and 8% in value. Despite the dip, average prices rose 1.5% to €414 as consumers opted for higher-quality models. Since 2016, 4.5m units have been sold, including 3.6m since 2020.
