Pierer Mobility Quits Bike & E-Bike Business
Pierer Mobility Group will exit the bike and e-bike business in fiscal 2025, selling off Husqvarna and GasGas bikes inventory. The company will review its 70% stake inFelt Bicycles. Bike & E-bike sales witnessed a sharp decline of 32% in 2024 from 156k units in 2023 to 106k units in 2024.
Lime To Add 2k E-Bikes to its Fleet in LA
Lime is launching a fleet of 2k e-bikes across Greater Los Angeles to complement its existing e-scooters. The rollout began with 300 bikes and will expand through spring and summer. The company aims to boost ridership with multimodal options, ahead of major events like the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics.
Record Year for Nextbike in 2024
Nextbike recorded 51m trips in 2024 as it approaches its 21st season in 2025. It currently operates in 400 cities across 23 countries. In Germany alone, 40k bikes are available in over 150 cities. The recent acquisition of Nextbike Poland will support expansion into Central, Eastern, and Northern Europe.
CPSC Advances E-Bike & Battery Standards
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) advanced proposed UL-based testing standards for e-mobility devices and their lithium-ion battery to a 60-day public comment period. The rule excludes European standards. If approved, only UL-compliant e-bikes could be legally sold in the U.S. It may face delays depending on public feedback before moving to Congress. The impact on existing non-UL inventory remains unclear.
Voi Launches E-Scooters in Regensburg
On May 1st, Voi launched 250 e-scooters in Regensburg, marking it as the company’s 48th city in Germany and seventh in Bavaria. Munich has been the most popular city for Voi scooters in the region, with 10 million rides recorded since the company’s launch there in 2019.
Saskatoon May Allow Private E-Scooters
Saskatoon may soon allow privately owned e-scooters on roads and pathways. Other Canadian cities, including Vancouver, Hamilton, Regina and Ottawa, have already approved private e-scooters. A committee report next week could revise Saskatoon's traffic bylaw.
Lev Expands Into E-Scooters
Lev, a Brazilian e-bike manufacturer, is launching a new urban e-scooter brand called Onn. The first model, the N1, will be produced in Manaus and will be available by June. The N1 is priced between $1,750 and $2,050. Onn aims to sell up to 3k units in its first year through 18 stores and its official website, with five more stores planned by year-end.
Spin Challenges D.C. Permit Process
Spin is suing D.C.’s transportation agency over its recent permit decision, claiming the process was unfair. The company alleges inconsistent rule enforcement during the application period. The judge ruled against Spin’s request to block the permit process. Currently, DDOT has awarded the micromobility sharing permit to Lime, Veo, and Hopp (by Bolt). Spin can continue operating for 30 more days during its appeal.
Shared Micromobility Service to Reach More Towns in Ealing
Shared e-bikes and e-scooters are now available in the Northolt and Greenford areas. With this expansion, shared micromobility services are present across 7 towns in the Ealing region. According to a report by Lime, usage of these vehicles rose by 75% in the borough last year. The council has added 101 designated parking spots. Lime and Voi are the two operators in the region.
Quad-Wheel E-Bike Launched by Acticycle
French mobility company Acticycle has developed a quadcycle, a pedal-assisted e-bike. The vehicle is a 2-seater with an enclosed cabin.
The vehicle comes in 3 variants:
250W motor - €11.9k
750W motor - €12.9k
4,000W motor - €14.4k
Vehicle delivery is expected to be 4 to 6 months from the date of pre-order.
Regina Relaunches E-Scooter Program
Shared e-scooters returned to Regina on May 01st. Neuron Mobility is the sole operator in the city with 500 e-scooters. In 2024, 20,000 users took more than 66,000 rides. Bird & Neuron were the operators in 2024.

Cheyenne Streamlines Micromobility Permits
Cheyenne City Council has approved an ordinance to regulate dockless vehicles like e-scooters and e-bikes through a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process. This replaces the previous month-to-month licensing system, which allowed unlimited providers and led to coordination issues. The new system aims to improve oversight by evaluating providers on fleet size, safety, and operations. A new vendor is expected to be selected by June 2025.
Hailey City Proposes E-Bike Ordinance
The Hailey City Council is set to vote on a $41,640 contract with Jacobs Engineering to draft a new ordinance for electric vehicle use on public pathways, including the BCRD bike path. Costs may be split between the City of Hailey, the City of Ketchum, and the Blaine County Recreation District (BCRD), with Blaine County possibly joining to reduce each share.

Veo Launches E-Scooters in New Haven
New Haven is launching a shared e-scooter program in partnership with Veo, introducing 300 electric scooters to downtown and nearby neighborhoods. Veo will operate in the city without incurring costs or fees, enabling reduced pricing for riders.
New Rules Proposed for Denver Shared Micromobility Program
Denver city officials are considering new rules to improve e-scooter and e-bike safety. The proposed changes include installing technology on scooters to detect and discourage sidewalk riding, and creating designated parking zones to prevent scooters from blocking walkways. The committee has postponed the vote on these proposals to gather more information and public input.
