India’s E-2W Sales Cross 1 Million in 2024
In India, electric two-wheeler (scooter & motorcycle) sales surged 33% in 2024, reaching 1.14m units, up from 860k in 2023. The top four OEMs accounted for ~83% of the market. Ola Electric remained the market leader, selling 407k units, a 52% increase from 267k in 2023.
Lime Scooter Parking Breach Penalties
Lime issued up to 5k fines monthly last summer for parking breaches, but GPS inaccuracies allow bikes to be parked 30m from bays undetected. To address this, the council and Lime plan to test Bluetooth beacons in Spring 2025.
On an average 630k rides are carried out in a month by dockless e-bikes in Westminster area. About 93% of rides are ended with the e-bike being parked in a bay.

Nottingham Enhances E-Scooter Management
Nottingham City Council, with Populus & Dott, is using real-time data to manage its e-scooter fleet. This marks the UK's first Populus platform deployment. Nottingham renewed its e-scooter program in January, with 1.3k scooters available from 300 parking zones this spring.
Ride Review: Velotric Discover 2
Velotric Discovery 2 is touted as the most comfortable E-Bike on offer. With the inclusion of a seatpost suspension, it blows a ton of E-Bike on the market out of the water as far as comfort goes. A few of the big specs here are a 750-watt motor, 14.7Ah battery (which is the most waterproof battery on the market), hydraulic brakes, 3 ride modes combined with 5 levels of pedal assist, and plenty of tech bells and whistles (like Apple Find My, and app integration).
Lime in now on Umob App
Umob and Lime have partnered to enable Lime e-bike bookings via the Umob app in Rotterdam. This comes as Lime tripled its fleet to 1.6k e-bikes after securing a new city permit in February.
Finland Proposes Tighter E-Scooter Regulations
The Finnish government has proposed new micromobility legislation to enhance e-scooter safety and support its 2050 zero fatality goal. Key changes include a micromobility license, which will let municipalities regulate rentals, parking, speed limits, and hours.
Ultraviolette Plans $100m Expansion
Ultraviolette, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, plans to invest $100m over the next four years. The company aims for 100k annual sales by the end of this period, with potential expansion into Europe and Southeast Asia. Ultraviolette is expected to achieve positive EBITDA upon reaching 30k annual sales.
Segway Opens Pre-Orders for Ninebot Max G3
Segway is accepting pre-orders for the Ninebot Max G3 e-scooter worldwide. It features a 2,000W peak motor, 50-mile range, fast charging, Bluetooth unlocking, and dual suspension. The G3 is priced at $899 in the US and €899 in Europe, with shipments starting mid-March.
Rad Power Bikes CEO Steps Down
Rad Power Bikes CEO Phil Molyneux stepped down after two years. The company raised $329m and hit a $1.65B valuation in 2021 but has faced layoffs since 2023. Its high burn rate, driven by a large workforce, led to mounting liabilities despite major capital raises.
Singapore Cracks Down on Non-Compliant Vehicles
Singapore will regulate online sales of non-compliant personal mobility devices, including e-bikes and e-scooters, as fire incidents rose 21.8% in 2024, reaching 67 cases. Enforcement has intensified with stricter penalties, including fines up to $40K and jail time.
Glasgow Cracks Down on Illegal E-Bikes
Glasgow police are cracking down on illegal e-bikes exceeding legal power and speed limits, seizing 27 since December 2024 and 223 between October 2023 and September 2024. The operation aims to enhance road safety and enforce compliance.
