PowerShelter Launches Battery Swapping Network with Zoomo
Amsterdam-based PowerShelter has launched its SmartSwapping Network in Germany, opening two battery swapping locations in central Berlin in partnership with Zoomo, the e-bike leasing platform for last-mile delivery couriers. Eight more Berlin locations are planned. The open-access, battery-agnostic network allows couriers to swap an empty battery for a fully charged one in under two minutes, with batteries available 24/7. Any fleet operator can connect to the network without building its own infrastructure. "Battery swapping answers two problems at once: it keeps couriers earning, and it takes the fire and theft risk out of riders managing batteries on their own," said Jake De Wulf, Co-founder and CCO of PowerShelter. Zoomo's Head of Operations Germany, Mazin Lammers, put it simply: "Riders can now swap instantly, ride lighter and longer. Small thing. Big difference."
The Berlin launch follows the model PowerShelter first built in Amsterdam and is designed to scale across operators and cities.
Meet the Winners MME26: Startup Awards
Micromobility Europe 2026 crowned three standout startups at its annual Startup Awards, highlighting innovation beyond the vehicle itself. Battery technology company Taisan took Gold for its quasi-solid-state sodium battery, which the company says is 30% smaller and 25% lighter than conventional e-bike batteries while offering faster charging. Headfirst Helmets secured Silver for its safety-focused Echo Pro design, while Glydz earned Bronze for its AI-stabilized electric soles aimed at solving the last-mile challenge. The awards were presented during MME26 in Berlin, where six startups pitched their solutions to a panel of industry judges.
Voi Cuts Emissions Intensity by 83% as Rides Grow
Voi has reduced its emissions intensity by 83% since 2019, even as annual ridership climbed to more than 115m trips across its network. The operational (Scope 1 and 2) emissions fell by 53% yoy, enabling Voi to reach its 2030 operational emissions reduction target five years ahead of schedule. The company has gained in circularity, with 97% of batteries remaining within Voi’s reuse and refurbishment ecosystem and more than 60k scooters given a second life through maintenance and refurbishment programmes. As shared micromobility scales across Europe, Voi argues the focus is shifting from growth alone to ensuring that growth remains sustainable over the long term.

Oxfordshire County Council has voted to expand its shared e-bike programme, paving the way for operators Voi and Lime to increase deployment across the county. The move was approved despite significant criticism from residents over parking, clutter and safety concerns. Council leaders argued that the scheme plays a key role in supporting sustainable travel and reducing reliance on private cars, while promising stronger enforcement and parking controls as the network grows.
Temple Cycles Unveils Refreshed Classic Electric E-Bike
British bike maker Temple Cycles has launched a refreshed version of its Classic Electric e-bike, combining the brand’s signature vintage-inspired design with a lighter and more affordable electric drivetrain. The new model features a 45Nm Bafang rear-hub motor, a removable 360Wh Samsung battery, a claimed range of up to 95km, and a weight of less than 20kg. Priced from £1,899, the bike is designed for everyday commuting and leisure riding, reflecting what the company says is growing demand for simpler, lighter e-bikes that can replace short car journeys without sacrificing style.
Marin Unveils Alpine Trail E Enduro eMTB
Marin Bikes, bicycle manufacturer based out of California, has launched a completely redesigned Alpine Trail E, its flagship enduro eMTB, featuring a lighter frame, more powerful Bosch Performance Line CX motor, and increased battery capacity. The new model sheds around 1.3kg compared to its predecessor while delivering up to 120Nm of torque and an 800Wh battery for extended range. Built around 170mm front and 160mm rear suspension travel, the bike also introduces updated geometry and adjustability aimed at tackling steep, technical terrain. Available in three builds starting at $5,999, the Alpine Trail E is positioned as Marin’s most capable electric mountain bike to date.
