E-Bike Sales Drive Growth in Germany
Germany’s bicycle market showed signs of recovery in Q1 2025, with total bike and e-bike sales rising nearly 11% to 885k units (385k bikes and 500k e-bikes) compared to Q1 2024. Domestic production increased by roughly 13.5%, reaching 760k units, driven particularly by a 16% rise in e-bike output. Although sales slowed in April and May, overall demand helped reduce inventory levels.
Neuron and Beam Merge to Form APAC E-Scooter Leader
Singapore-based e-scooter operators Neuron Mobility and Beam Mobility have agreed to merge, creating a top global micromobility player with operations in 100+ cities. The combined entity will retain both brands, leveraging Neuron’s dominance in Australia/Canada and Beam’s footprint in South Korea, Southeast Asia, Turkey, and the U.S. Neuron’s CEO Zachary Wang will lead as Global CEO, while Beam’s CEO Alan Jiang becomes CEO of Asia. The merger aims to drive profitability and scalable growth, backed by investors including Square Peg Capital and Affirma Capital. Deal completion is expected within 60 days.

Lime Exits Brussels After Court Ruling
Brussels’ Council of State has ruled that Lime must immediately remove its 6k e-scooters and e-bikes, as Lime’s permit expired on 3 July. Lime disputes the tender’s fairness, and Brussels authorities could owe damages of up to €1m per month if the court eventually rules in Lime’s favour. Meanwhile, Voi’s license expires on 23 August. There are approximately 7.5k shared bicycles in the Brussels-Capital Region and 8k officially licensed e-scooters from Dott and Bolt.

Accell Group Revenue Falls 22% Amid Restructuring
Accell Group’s 2024 revenue fell 22% to €1B (€1.3B in 2023), driven by intense discounting and one-off costs, including Babboe recalls and restructuring. Despite net profit aligning with 2023 (€390m loss in 2023), market conditions remain challenging. The company is streamlining operations:
Cut warehouses from 85 to 28 (more closures planned)
Outsourced production to a hybrid model with Hungary as its central hub
Divested its Turkey factory
Centralized back-office functions.
Growth in Parts & Accessories (P&A) and resumed Babboe sales in Germany/France/Denmark signal early recovery. A new €50m loan supports ongoing transformation.

Selana Alpha Becomes First Legal E-Scooter in the NL

Priced at €1,900, it doesn’t require a helmet or driver’s license for riders 16+, though a license plate is mandatory.
