Antwerp’s Velo Bike Share Sets Record Growth in 2024
In 2024, Velo recorded 7.16m bikeshare rides up by 9% from 6.5m in 2023. Bike fleet reached 4.46k as 1.16k new bikes were introduced in 2024, out of which 1k were assembled in-house. The city of Antwerp pays €4.5m annually to Clear Channel, the operator of Velo.
Leicester Police Seize Illegal Vehicles
In Leicester, during a recent crackdown, police seized nine e-scooters and 12 e-bikes as part of Operation Pedalfast, which has confiscated 64 vehicles since January.
Coquitlam Delays Micromobility Pilot Extension
Coquitlam delays voting on a two-year micromobility pilot extension to align with Port Moody, which is seeking a new e-scooter and e-bike operator. Neuron Mobility has ended its e-scooter operations in Coquitlam and Lime will fund and manage 30 new dockless parking stations, adding to the existing 21.

E-Scooter Riders Fined in Barcelona
Barcelona police fined nearly 3k e-scooter riders in the first month of new regulations, mostly for not wearing helmets. Overall, 11.2k violations were recorded, including 1.1k cyclist fines. Fines range from €100 to €500.
Bolt Launches 1k E-Scooters in Antwerp
Bolt has launched 1k e-scooters in Antwerp after Poppy exited a few months ago. Lime and Voi are the other two operators in the city. Bolt is also active in other Belgian cities, including Brussels, Ghent, Namur, Liège, and Charleroi.

Moby Replaces Bolt in Wicklow County, Ireland
Moby is rolling out 100 e-bikes in Bray with free passes, replacing Bolt's bike-sharing scheme, which ended on March 1. Partnering with Wicklow County Council, Moby plans to expand to Greystones, Arklow, and Wicklow Town based on demand.
Tier-Dott’s Usage Report
A survey of 8,468 riders across 23 cities revealed that 58% reduced their use of cars, taxis, or ride-hailing services after adopting TIER-Dott. Additionally, 64% combined TIER-Dott with public transport, and 31% of bike riders reported cycling more frequently. The service also enhanced public transport accessibility, adding over 6.5 million rides to local systems by facilitating first- and last-mile connections.

Bolt Partners with Forest for E-Bikes in London
Bolt has partnered with Forest to provide access to Forest's 15k e-bikes in London through the Bolt app, starting 10th March. In London, Forest records about 1.2m e-bike rides monthly. Earlier, Bird signed a simlar partnership with Forest in London.
Dutch Bike Sales Drop 7%
In 2024, bicycle sales in the Netherlands dropped 7% to 858k, the lowest in a decade, with electric bikes making up 48% of the total. The Dutch bicycle industry generated €1.55 billion, a 4% decline from 2023 with average classic bike and e-bike prices at €1.8k and €2.7k respectively.
China's E-Bike Trade-In Surges
China's e-bike trade-in program saw strong growth in early 2025, with 1.01m e-bikes traded in during January and February, generating $370m in new sales. February set a record with 863k trade-ins. Since launch of the scheme, 2.4m old e-bikes have been replaced, driving $890m in sales.
Vilnius Charges Operators for Micromobility
Vilnius City Council approved JUDU’s micromobility rules, requiring operators to pay €1/month per vehicle and obtain a permit. Rules are effective from May 1 and enforcement begins June 1 after a transition period. Bolt & Ride Mobility run a 4.5k-vehicle fleet in the city.
