Link, Dott, Lime Win E-Scooter Contract in Palermo
The Palermo Municipality has selected Superpedestrian (Link), Dott, and Lime to offer electric scooter rentals in the city. The companies will deploy up to 1k scooters each, for a total of 3k scooters. The city initially announced the Bit Mobility, Dott and Link won, but later corrected the results.

Ryde Launched in Three New Swedish Cities

Dott E-Scooters Return to Nottingham
In Spring 2025, shared e-scooter services will return to Nottingham. Dott will deploy 1.3k e-scooters at 300 locations. Since the trial began in 2020, over 3.1m rides and 4.5m miles have been logged. The council added 275 parking racks using the Transforming Cities fund.
Forest Secures €15.3m Funding
Forest raised €15.3m in its Series B round, including €11.8m from Fintex Capital and €3.5m from B8 Venture Partners. In 2024, Forest recorded its first full year of profitability (positive EBITDA) with over 10m trips. The company plans to expand into Hackney and Paris while introducing three new models: Forest Duo (with a passenger seat), Forest Kid (with a child safety seat), and Forest Cargo (with a rear luggage rack).

Beryl Withdraws Bike Sharing Scheme in East Dorset
Beryl's bike share scheme will be withdrawn from the East Dorset region by February 28 as the contract ends. Beryl's 121 e-bikes will continue to operate in Dorchester, Weymouth, and Portland. The decline in ridership can be attributed to the public switching to private bikes and a lack of cycling infrastructure.

BCAA Expands E-Bike Service in Burnaby
In Canada, Burnaby's BCAA Evolve e-bike program has expanded to the UniverCity neighborhood on Burnaby Mountain, adding three new parking stations for 4k residents. The city is also developing a public bike share plan, with council feedback and vendor bids anticipated later this year.
UBCO Enters Receivership Amid Struggles
UBCO, a New Zealand based e-motorcycle manufacturer, has entered receivership despite raising $70m in funding. The recent financial troubles forced the suspension of operations and staff layoffs. Grant Thornton is managing its assets to address debts.
EMotorad’s E-Bike Factory Draws Europe, US Interest
EMotorad's Dynem gigafactory, South Asia's largest e-bike facility, has completed Phase 1 with a 500k unit annual capacity. The facility has drawn interest from retailers in Europe and the US. EMotorad holds over 70% of India's e-bike market share.
Ola Begins Electric Motorcycle Production
Ola Electric has begun production of its Roadster electric motorcycles, with deliveries set to start in January 2025 for the Roadster X, followed by the Roadster in March 2025, and the Roadster Pro in January 2026.
Lime Sees Record Ridership in D.C.
In Washington, D.C., Lime ridership of e-scooters increased by 36% from 2023 to 2024, totalling over 5.9m rides. October was the top month with 728k rides. Since 2017, 3m riders have taken 18.2m trips.
Basildon e-Scooter Trial Ends in May
The e-scooter trial in Basildon will end in May after councillors voted not to renew it. The trial has been running in several Essex districts since December 2020 and has logged over 3.1m rides. TIER (now Dott) operated the scooters in the region.
Bolt Scooters Launch in Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Bolt has launched its electric scooter rental service in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, deploying over 300 scooters, with plans to expand based on demand. Bolt is already operating in Sofia, Varna, and Burgas.
Leicester Seizes Illegal E-Scooters, E-Bikes
Leicester police seized 28 illegal e-scooters and e-bikes, including 17 e-scooters and 11 e-bikes. E-scooters are illegal to use on public roads, except when hired as part of a government approved scheme.
