Lime to Launch New E-Bike Model in Baltimore
Lime is introducing its newest e-bike model, the LimeBike, in Baltimore, one of the first cities globally to debut the vehicle after successful 2024 pilot programs. Lime will deploy up to 200 LimeBikes across Baltimore. The LimeBike is designed for riders who prefer seated options or have difficulty pedalling for long periods. Baltimore’s investments in bike infrastructure, such as protected lanes and designated parking, contributed to Lime’s decision to launch the LimeBike there. Since 2017, Lime riders have completed over 3.7m trips, with e-bike usage nearly doubling since 2024.
Half of Latvia's E-Scooters Fail Safety Standards
Latvia’s Consumer Rights Protection Centre (PTAC) found 56% of inspected e-scooters and 28% of e-bikes non-compliant with safety regulations following 2024 legislative changes. Key violations include missing EU conformity declarations, unverified safety assessments, and instructions not in Latvian. PTAC warns consumers to prioritize safety over price when purchasing, noting non-compliant vehicles may be barred from road use by the CSDD transport authority.
Beam Launches 100 E-Bikes in Hobart
Beam Mobility has launched 100 ‘Apollo Lite’ e-bikes in Hobart’s CBD as a trial with the City Council, expanding its existing e-scooter service. The e-bikes are aimed particularly at first and last-mile connections to public transit. Beam e-scooters have recorded over 649k trips in Hobart to date. The new e-bikes are available at designated CBD locations via the Beam app at the same rate as e-scooters.
Bradford E-Bike Hire Scheme Launch Delayed
Bradford Council has announced that the start date for its planned electric bike hire scheme is under review, delaying the initially projected Spring 2025 launch. The council is in detailed discussions with a provider to finalize the network, aiming to maximize usage upon launch.
Dunedin Seeks Single E-Scooter Operator
The Dunedin City Council is inviting proposals for a sole permit to operate a rental e-scooter scheme in the city. The selected operator will be authorized to deploy up to 500 e-scooters during specified hours, subject to permit fees. Only operators who previously responded to the Council’s Register of Interest are eligible to bid.
