Capital Bikeshare witnessed a 17.4% increase in total rides during January and February 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. About 70% of riders opted for e-bikes over traditional bikes during winter months.

Halifax Gets Bird E-Scooters & E-Bikes
Bird will launch a shared micromobility program in Halifax this May, starting with 300 e-scooters and 300 e-bikes. The fleet could expand to 1k vehicles based on demand. Bird is the sole operator for the two-year program.
Ampler Launches E-Bikes With USB-C Charging
Ampler, the Estonian e-bike maker, launched the Nova (€2,990) and Nova Pro (€3,490), the first commercial e-bikes with USB-C charging, available in Europe, the UK, and Switzerland.
Key features include:
USB-C PD 3.1 charging (up to 140W), fully charging the 48V 336Wh battery in 3 hours.
Bidirectional USB-C port charges devices at 15W (non-US models).
Nova: 9-speed Shimano Deore, 27.5” tires.
Nova Pro: Single-speed Gates Carbon belt drive (no 10-speed option).
Step-through/step-over frames, compatible with accessories.
Preorders are open with shipping starting in June 2025.
Lime Ends Overland Park E-Scooter Pilot
Lime has ended its e-scooter and e-bike pilot program in Overland Park. Lime had a contract to operate up to 200 vehicles until the end of 2025. Lime launched its program in 2024, logging 8.3k rides since then with 2.6k unique riders. Lime paid about $2.5k to the city as part of administrative fees and a share of rider fees. Bird too had abruptly exited the program in 2023.

Tuul Mobility Reports €2.8M Revenue
Estonian e-scooter firm Tuul Mobility reported a 7% revenue drop to €2.698m in 2024. EBITDA for the period was €175k and net loss was €904k. The company attributes this to slowed sales, high depreciation, and €310k in annual bond interest. Management aims to restore equity through cost cuts, revenue growth, and is also considering full or partial sale of the company.
Lectric Acquires Juiced Bikes
Lectric E-Bikes co-founders finalized the acquisition of Juiced Bikes after a bankruptcy auction, securing its intellectual property but not its inventory. Juiced, a pioneer in high-performance e-bikes founded 2009, collapsed after financial difficulties. Lectric will rebuild it as a separate brand.
Yamaha Acquires Brose’s Bike Drive Unit
Yamaha Motor has announced its agreement to acquire Brose's bicycle drive unit (e-Kit) business subsidiary, with completion expected by June 2025. This strategic move includes establishing Yamaha Motor eBike Systems (YMESG) in Germany to enhance market presence in Europe. By integrating Brose's e-Kit development capabilities and extensive service network, Yamaha aims to strengthen product development, swiftly address market needs, and expand its customer base in the European market.
Baltimore’s 2024 Micromobility Rides
Over 1.6 million trips were recorded in 2024, a 18% increase compared to 2023. Spin operates 2.8k e-scooters and 300 e-bikes, while Lime, after relaunching last summer, added 1.5k scooters and 500 bikes. From July to December 2024, Lime recorded 597k rides, slightly surpassing Spin’s 571.7k rides.
Nextbike Expands its Presence in France
Nextbike expands to 2nd market in France, taking over Mulhouse’s VéloCité system. It launched 300 e-bikes at 26 stations, with plans to reach 64 locations and over 640 bikes by June.
