Lyft to Acquire Serveo’s Bikeshare Business in Spain
Lyft has announced plans to acquire Serveo‘s bikeshare business in Spain, bringing operations across seven cities under Lyft Urban Solutions and expanding its European footprint. The move builds on a seven-year partnership between the two companies, with Lyft already supplying the technology and hardware behind many of Spain’s public bikeshare systems. Once the deal closes, LUS will for the first time operate bikeshare systems on both sides of the Atlantic, with technology powering bikeshare programs across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
Donkey Republic Restructures Debt for Future Growth
Donkey Republic has completed a full debt restructuring, repaying its state-backed debt and securing a new revolving credit facility with Danish bank AL Sydbank that can finance up to 100% of future fleet expansion. The restructuring follows the company's DKK 75m (€10 m) capital raise in February 2026 and is expected to lower financing costs while giving Donkey Republic greater flexibility to execute its 2030 growth plan without additional equity raises.
What Millions of Scooter and Bike Trips Told Two European Cities
A new study from the Sustainable Urban Transitions (SUT) Lab, a collaboration between ETH Zürich, a public university in Zurich, Switzerland, and Bolt, analysed millions of shared scooter and bike trips in Hannover and Seville to better understand urban travel patterns. In Hannover, 56% of scooter trips connected to public transport, while simulations suggested improving first- and last-mile access could reduce car trips by 14%. In Seville, bike lanes emerged as the strongest factor influencing cycling routes, and modelling showed planned metro expansions could shift up to 18% of trips from cars to public transport in outer districts. The research highlights how shared mobility data can help cities improve transport planning, infrastructure, and safety.
Microlino and Mobility Pilot Compact EV Car Sharing in Zurich
Swiss microcar maker Microlino and Swiss car-sharing provider Mobility are piloting a car-sharing scheme in Zurich starting mid-July, placing three of Microlino’s compact electric vehicles at Oerlikon station. The three cars, plus their charging station, occupy roughly the space of two normal parking spots. With a top range of about 228 km, the 2.5-metre EV is aimed at short urban trips.
The project tests whether a small, enclosed micro-EV can complement Mobility’s existing car-sharing fleet, where one shared vehicle already displaces around 18 privately owned cars, by cutting space and resource use even further. Both companies will track usage and customer feedback over the coming months to decide whether Microlinos get a wider rollout across Mobility’s offering.

TaiSan Raises £4.65M for Sodium-Ion Battery Development
UK battery startup TaiSan has raised £4.65m in seed funding to advance its sodium-ion battery technology for e-bikes, e-scooters, and other light electric vehicles. The company has already signed more than 15 letters of intent with manufacturers and plans to use the funding to expand its Cambridge lab, establish operations in Coventry, and begin commercial pilot programmes. TaiSan says its solid-state sodium-ion batteries are 30% lighter and 25% more compact than conventional lithium-ion batteries. The funding reflects growing industry interest in sodium-ion technology as a lower-cost alternative to lithium for micromobility applications.

Voi Expands Aberdeen E-Bike Fleet
Voi has added 150 new e-bikes to its fleet in Aberdeen, increasing the total number available across the city to 400 in response to growing demand. Since launching in October 2024, the shared e-bike scheme has recorded more than 150k rides and attracted over 14k registered users. The expansion is expected to improve bike availability across the city, support more sustainable travel, and help meet increasing demand during the busy summer period, with Voi and local officials highlighting the service's role in reducing car trips and improving access to low-carbon transport.
Galian Unveils Le Formidable Hybrid Cargo E-Bike
France-based cargo bike manufacturer Galian has unveiled the latest version of its Le Formidable cargotail e-bike, a hybrid design that combines the carrying capacity of a front-loader with the compact footprint of a longtail. The bike can transport up to four children or a maximum payload of 250 kg while remaining similar in length to a conventional cargo bike. Buyers can choose between Bosch or Valeo electric drive systems, with prices starting at €7.5k for the Bosch-equipped model. Galian is positioning the e-bike as a practical alternative to cars for families and urban deliveries.
Devinci Unveils Full-Power E-Spartan eMTB
Canada-based mountain bike manufacturer Devinci has introduced the E-Spartan, a full-power electric enduro mountain bike powered by Bosch's latest Performance Line CX motor. The bike features 165 mm of rear travel, a 170 mm fork, an 800 Wh integrated battery, and up to 120 Nm of torque with 750 W peak power. Built around a made-in-Canada aluminium frame backed by a lifetime warranty, the E-Spartan is available in three build options priced between US$6,699 and US$9,099, targeting riders looking for long-range, high-performance trail capability.
Addmotor Launches Full-Suspension Electric Trike
California-based e-bike manufacturer Addmotor has launched the Freetan M-368X, a full-suspension electric trike designed for comfort, stability, and everyday utility. The semi-recumbent model features a 750 W rear hub motor, a 48 V battery offering up to 85 miles (137 km) of range, an adjustable comfort seat, hydraulic disc brakes, and a suspension system that absorbs bumps across all three wheels. The trike is aimed at riders seeking a more accessible and comfortable alternative for commuting, errands, and recreational trips.
Analog Machine Works Debuts Four-Fold Space-Frame Bike
South Korea-based folding bike startup Analog Machine Works has unveiled the Tetra, a folding bicycle featuring a patented tubular space-frame and four-fold mechanism designed to improve both rigidity and portability. Unlike most compact folding bikes, the Tetra rides on 20-inch wheels and incorporates an adjustable rear hydraulic suspension, Shimano 9-speed drivetrain, and disc brakes for improved comfort. The company has launched the bike on Kickstarter with an early-bird price of US$2,390, ahead of a planned retail price of US$3,990.
Ariel Rider Unveils 65 mph Electric Bike
US-based e-bike manufacturer Ariel Rider has opened pre-orders for the MUDD 72V, a high-performance electric bike designed for off-road and closed-course riding. Powered by a 3.5kW oil-cooled rear hub motor with up to 8kW peak output, the bike delivers up to 330 Nm of torque, a claimed top speed of 65 mph (105 km/h), and an estimated range of up to 120 miles (193 km). Priced from US$2,799, the MUDD 72V blurs the line between an e-bike and a lightweight electric motorcycle.
Amazon Reaches 1M E-Cargo Bike Deliveries in Belgium
Amazon has completed more than 1m customer deliveries using electric cargo bikes in Belgium, marking a milestone in its goal to reach net-zero carbon by 2040. The company currently operates e-cargo bikes from micromobility hubs in Brussels and Antwerp and plans to launch 25 additional micromobility hubs across Europe in 2026. Amazon also highlighted a new citizen science study it supported, which found that greater tree canopy significantly reduces urban temperatures and improves biodiversity.
Mubea, Würth Partner on Business Cargo Bikes
Germany-based Mubea U-Mobility has partnered with Würth to bring purpose-built electric cargo bikes to businesses across Germany. The collaboration combines Mubea's four-wheeled e-cargo bikes with Würth's vehicle equipment and shelving systems, creating turnkey solutions for tradespeople, service technicians, facility management teams, and municipal operators. The companies aim to offer businesses a practical, low-emission alternative to vans for urban operations, with the integrated cargo bikes designed to improve efficiency, organization, and accessibility in city environments.
Segway and Whoosh Launch Free Ride Campaign in Mexico
Segway Commercial and shared mobility operator Whoosh launched a free ride campaign across Mexico to support urban mobility during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The initiative, which debuted in Mexico City on June 10 before expanding to Monterrey, offered users one complimentary e-scooter ride of up to 20 minutes through July 5.
